Everyone’s favourite bao spot has opened a new branch in King’s Cross.
BAO has just opened their fourth venue in King’s Cross, and this is the good news we needed to carry us through to the new year. Café BAO is an all-day dining spot that will serve breakfast – which is a first for the company. This café also has its very own bakery offering sweet treats and coffee to take away or enjoy inside their lovely new venue.
For those of you that haven’t experienced BAO’s buns before, they are inspired by the delicious Taiwanese street food snack and their chefs describe them as “the fluffy white pillows that envelope an assortment of fillings”. They are so fluffy and light that you’ll be able to scoff several down in one sitting. How exciting!
Café BAO will feature an all-day dining room and a mouthwatering menu to match. It’s no surprise that bao buns are their specialty and they have an array of fillings, including lobster and chicken. They’ve also put their own spin on western style dishes such as ‘Chicken XO Kiev’ and ‘Ham Hock Congee Pie’. These talented chefs know just how to make your tastebuds tingle.
If you fancy something sweet, the BAO bakery will sort you right out. Fortunately, their baked goods are just as indulgent and moreish as their mains, and you’ll have lots of options to choose from. Definitely try the BAOfiteroles served with Horlicks ice cream and chocolate sauce – they are unreal. You also can’t go wrong with their molten chocolate and salted egg muffin BAO.

While they don’t offer goody bags, you can order their bespoke bao buns to be gift wrapped for a friend. Or you can eat them yourself later, we don’t judge…
