I certainly can’t tell you much about what the future holds (if only, hey?). But I can tell you that a fresh, fun, fantastical, and futuristic afternoon tea has flown its way into London, courtesy of SOUND Cafe at The Cumberland Hotel.
Hot on the heels of the huge success of the West End stage adaptation of the iconic movie; SOUND has created a brand new ‘Back to the Future’ musical afternoon tea, for squares and scientists alike to live out there Marty McFly and Doc Brown dreams. Great Scott, indeed.
Paying homage to the anniversary of the movie that premiered back in 1985; the afternoon tea takes hungry Londoners and Back to the Future-fanatics on a time-bending trip to the fictional town of Hill Valley from July 3 onwards.
On the afternoon tea menu
The menu features a medley of mini delights, designed to indulge each and every sense and take guests on a trip through past, present, and future. The culinary journey begins with a trip back in time, where diners can feast on delicious mini burgers and hot dogs. It’s then back to the present day, for DeLorean pulled pork burrito, the E=MC2 mac and cheese toastie, and Marty’s crispy shrimp tortilla.
And finally, guests are whizzed into the future to enjoy Doc’s brownies, Biff’s apple cobbler and George’s fruit macarons. There are also retro milkshakes to slurp on and refreshing ice tea to sip throughout the 90 minute tea.
Diners can also nab themselves (and their whole table) a free upgrade to bottomless sparkling wine, draught beer or signature cocktails. If a customer utters ‘Great Scott’ to a waiter when ordering, they will be presented with two eight-sided dice. As 88mph is, of course, the exact speed required for the DeLorean to do its whole time travelling thing, if a guest rolls a double eight; the entire table gets the bottomless upgrade for free. Aren’t they a generous bunch over at SOUND?
Prices for the musical afternoon tea start at £45 per person. Find out more and plan your exhilarating visit into the future here.
