Paradox Museum – a museum of mind-bending optical illusions – is ready to inject some colour into London’s greyer days. The immersive experience shakes up the rigmarole of mundane life, with vibrant, bold, and quite frankly, wacky illusions that have you questioning your own perceptions. If you’re yet to check out this Knightsbridge attraction, we’ve got five reasons why you’ve just got to visit Paradox Museum below…
1. The illusions are mesmerising and mind-blowing
Of course, optical illusions are one of the main reasons to visit Paradox Museum. The museum itself is a paradox, as it is far larger on the inside than it appears from its exterior: there are over 50 optical illusions at the museum.
Some of the illusions are for visitors to observe, while others you can step right into; some even have scannable QR codes nearby, so you can learn more about them. On my visit, one of my favourite illusions was the Ames room, which had my 4 foot 11 self appearing taller than my 6 foot 3 colleague. Elsewhere, the Kalidoscope illusion had me in fits of giggles, and I even walked into a wall in the Harry Potter-inspired room due to my eyes being deceived!
2. It’s suitable for various group types
Paradox Museum is delightful no matter who you’re visiting with. The museum is super family friendly, suitable to both adults and kids. Hey, there’s no age limit on the magic of optical illusions, is there? Many of the illusions are just as thrilling to solo visitors too.
If you’re visiting for a work do, Paradox Museum offers exclusive full-venue hire for corporate bookings, so your group can have the whole place to yourselves. The museum can also provide food and drink options upon request.
3. The reviews speak for themselves
You don’t need to rely solely on my reasons to visit Paradox Museum; it’s received rave reviews from many other Londoners and visitors:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Fantastic exhibition! So fun and interactive. Very well organised. Had masses of fun! I would thoroughly recommend.”
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Absolutely brilliant afternoon with friends, haven’t laughed so much in ages, especially in the zero gravity room!”
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “I’m usually sceptical about London walk-through events like this, but I have to eat my words – this is brilliant! Worth every penny.”
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “It was a brilliant day out. We were aged 10 – 80 and all had a great time!”

4. The photo ops are endless
If you’re looking to up your Insta game, or simply make hilarious memories, Paradox Museum is the place to go. There are TONS of photo ops and spaces that make for the perfect TikTok; my favourite for this was the aforementioned kaleidoscope illusion… though I am gutted not one of my loved ones has used the image I created their phone background. My face repeated endless times; what more could you want?
There are signs throughout the museum, demonstrating how best to capture the illusion when taking a photo, as well as helpful staff on hand.
5. Location, location, location
Paradox Museum is located in Knightsbridge opposite the iconic Harrods store. Whether you combine your visit with a shopping trip (those price tags will have you questioning your eyes just as much as the optical illusions), or simply get your tourist on and grab pics outside its facade, you can combine visits. Speaking of shopping trips, in Paradox Museum’s gift shop, you can purchase some illusions of your own; they offer a fun bundle with a tote bag, Paradox spinner, bendy pencil, and a snake cube keychain, which works out at 25% cheaper than buying the items separately…
Equally, the museums of South Kensington are an easy stroll or bus ride away for a London museum day out.
