I scream, you scream, we all scream for (3D) ice cream. That’s right, this summer there’s a new ice cream on the block and it’s certainly putting the own-brand choc ices that I have in my freezer to shame. Ayce! (AKA: Art You Can Eat) is the UK’s first 3D ice cream company, serving up beautifully handmade ice creams, using their ultra-fancy 3D designing technology (oooh).
The founders of Ayce! first met whilst studying at Cambridge university. After both pursuing careers in other (completely un-ice-cream-related) fields, they realised their true passions lay in 3D ice cream making and well – after a rather bold leap of faith – the rest is history. This small artisan business have been creating their edible art ever since, and their 3D sticks of deliciousness are now available at four London locations.
Their first series of designs pays homage to our wonderful capital city, with intricate designs showcasing landmarks including The Shard, Tower Bridge, St Paul’s and Big Ben. The founders of Ayce! said: “London has given us so much. We came to London with not much, but found a home for our dreams. London features heavily on the Ayce! menu because we love it”.
Flavours include sweet cream, chocolate, strawberry, and rose (which comes in a rose-shaped design – how cute?) plus the ingredients used are all locally-sourced, natural and sustainable. The ice cream chef has even won several Great Taste Awards so you can trust that they are going to be just as delicious as they look. And did I mention that they’re only £3.50 each? I’m completely sold.
In the future, Ayce! are planning to create designs focused on life-like sculptures as well as detailed work from local artists. They may well be the coolest ice cream brand on the market.
They’re selling out across the city, so I’d get a move on if you want to stand a chance of trying one of these edible works of art – especially now the sun is (kind of) shining. They were a complete hit with the Secret London team, if that’s anything to go by.
You can find Ayce! ice creams at OAT Coffee (Brick Lane and Shoreditch), Summer by the River festival and at their pop-up phone box outside Russell Square Gardens. Find out more information here.
