Aldi announces four London store openings in latest UK expansion
The supermarket will open branches in Watford, Hoxton, Orpington and Marble Arch as it continues pushing towards its long-term target of 1,500 UK stores.
The announcement strengthens Aldi’s footprint in the capital at a time when shoppers are still looking for value-led grocery options.

Hoxton and Marble Arch will add to its central London presence, while Watford and Orpington will serve customers in outer London and the wider commuter belt.
Aldi said the new store programme is designed to make its “award-winning quality products at unbeatable prices” available to more communities.
The company also highlighted its investment in pay for store colleagues, saying it had increased hourly rates earlier this year following a £42 million investment in pay.
Store Assistant pay now starts at £13.50 per hour nationally, rising to £14.47 based on length of service, while colleagues within the M25 receive £14.88 per hour, increasing to £15.20 with service.
The new openings form part of Aldi’s broader UK growth drive, with stores also planned in locations including Hattersley, Newport, Ashford, Balsall Common and Sutton Coldfield. The retailer said the expansion supports local economies while helping more shoppers access affordable groceries.
Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, said: “At Aldi, we’re committed to making high-quality, affordable food accessible to everyone, which is why we continue to invest in expanding our store network across the UK.
“Our £370 million investment in new stores this year will help us bring Aldi’s unbeatable value to even more communities, supporting local economies through our industry-leading pay for colleagues.”
