Um casal entusiasta gere este pequeno restaurante, mobilado de forma simples, que faz lembrar o tipo de local que encontraria nas suas viagens pela Ásia. O extenso menu inclui pratos cantoneses autênticos e de excelente sabor, cozinhados cuidadosamente com ingredientes de boa qualidade. É possível que tenha de fazer fila para entrar, mas uma vez lá dentro o ambiente é animado.

4. Plaza Khao Gaeng, Soho
O restaurante principal do salão de comida Arcade na Tottenham Court Road, este restaurante independente de comida reconfortante do sul da Tailândia é uma emoção. Inspirado pela forma como os restaurantes de khao gaeng (vagamente, “caril sobre arroz”) surgem em locais inesperados e desactivados, o Plaza Khao Gaeng segue as sugestões visuais de um restaurante semelhante que ocupou uma sala de cinema abandonada. O ambiente de festa é emocionante, com torres de cerveja, shots por todo o lado e cocktails luminosos. Mas não se deixe enganar, a comida aqui é muito, muito boa. Tal como o BAO, o Plaza Khao Gaeng também foi galardoado com o Bib Gourmand Michelin.

Com uma cozinha aberta e pop elétrico a tocar, há uma vibração vintage neste local descontraído e caseiro no Arcade Food Hall. O chefe Luke Farrell cultiva muitos dos ingredientes do Sudeste Asiático numa estufa tropical em Dorset, que são depois habilmente utilizados para criar caril tailandês do Sul maravilhosamente autêntico e vigoroso.
🍽️ O que pedir: Se não quiser provar a torre de cerveja (porquê?), opte por pelo menos um dos cocktails de softs da casa, como o Nam Makham, com tamarindo, hortelã, kombucha de jasmim e soda. Em termos de comida, toda a gente deve comer um Miang “de uma só dentada” antes de pedir uma grande quantidade (para a mesa) de caris e salteados. Peça ajuda para escolher uma seleção de níveis de especiarias e texturas e, depois, comece a comer!
