On account of being (-checks notes-) the biggest musical artist in the world right now, it’s fair to say that Taylor Swift has picked up a fair few (thousand) superfans by now. What separates a superfan from just a plain old fan? Well, that’s what we reckon the V&A are planning to deduce in their interview process for this dream job; one that asks the candidate to to advise on all things Taylor Swift.
In what looks to be a dream job for any Swiftie, all hopefuls for the job at the London art institution are asked to Speak Now (in a Taylor’s Version sort of a way).
It comes in a hiring spree of four experts for the V&A, each with different specialist subjects, which also include Crocs and emojis. They will all be asked to advise the museum ahead of any upcoming collections. Who knows? Perhaps being in the top 0.00000001% of fans on Spotify Wrapped will pay off for something if your opinion influences an exhibition in London.
This isn’t a new phenomenon, either. The V&A already have a team of experts on other subjects which include Pokémon Card culture, Lego, and more.
The successful Swiftie will, like the other experts in the same role, be appointed on a zero-hour contract in a part-time position. Applications have been live since February 23, and tomorrow (March 7) is your last chance to put your reputation as a Taylor Swift oracle to the best of use.
Speaking on the new roles, Dr Tristram Hunt, who is the director of The V&A, said: “The V&A is the home of creativity, and today we are looking to the British public to share their collections and knowledge with us.
“These new advisory roles will help us celebrate and discover more about the enormous, and often surprising, creative diversity on offer at the V&A, as well as helping us to learn more about the design stories that are relevant to our audiences today.”
So, between this and USA Today hiring a Taylor Swift reporter, it might be time to knock on your manager’s door asking to create a new role specifically for you to be promoted into at your company… don’t ask don’t get, right? We can always let Karma get them if they say no…
You have until tomorrow (March 7) to apply. It’ll be a Cruel Summer ahead if you’re unsuccessful, but there’s no harm in giving it a go. Head here for more information on the job vacancy.
