London’s nifty network of tubes and trains will face a number of closures this weekend due to various engineering works taking place. But fear not, folks – knowledge is power, and all that. So, we’re here to clue you up on all of the closures that will be happening across the capital’s transport network over the next few days, so that you can plan accordingly and still have a fun-filled weekend.
Piccadilly Line closures
The majority of the Piccadilly Line will be closed on March 21 and 22, with no services running between Cockfosters and Uxbridge across the entire weekend. This closure is due to preparations taking place on the line, so that it is ready to welcome the 94 swanky new state-of-the-art trains that are set to come into passenger service in the next year. The Piccadilly Line will still be running between Acton Town and Heathrow Airport throughout the weekend.

Elizabeth Line closures
On March 21 (tomorrow), there will be no Elizabeth Line trains running between Whitechapel and Shenfield. On March 22 (Sunday), there will be no services running between Ealing Broadway and Shenfield/Abbey Wood until 7.45am. After that, there will be no trains running between Paddington and Shenfield/Abbey Wood and a reduced service between Paddington and Maidenhead/Heathrow Airport. These disruptions are due to planned maintenance work taking place.
London Overground closures
There will be no Weaver Line services running between Liverpool Street and Cheshunt, Chingford or Enfield Town on March 21 and 22. The entirety of the Liberty Line will also be closed this weekend.

Liverpool Street station closures
London’s busiest railway station will face its second closure of the month this weekend. On both March 21 and 22, Liverpool Street mainline station will be entirely closed, with Greater Anglia services terminating at Stratford instead. On March 21, the low-level Elizabeth Line station will still be open for passengers travelling between Paddington and Abbey Wood (but as previously mentioned, there will be no services between Whitechapel and Shenfield). On March 22, there will be no services running from Liverpool Street station at all.
Bus strikes
And lastly, we have a London bus strike taking place this weekend. There will little to no service on seven London bus routes (8, 25, 205, 425, N8, N205, N25) from now until Monday (March 23). This is due to a dispute between bus drivers represented by Unite and the East London Bus & Coach Company about working hours.
As always, keep an eye on TfL’s website to stay up to date with upcoming closures and to find alternative routes for your journeys.
