Whilst London certainly isn’t short on stylish spots to spend a night in the city, if you’d like to be pointed in the direction of a particularly dreamy one (that you may not have already heard of), you happen to have come to the right place. Tucked away down a residential road in Bethnal Green is Town Hall Hotel. Once home to the municipal matters of the East End, this Edwardian establishment set up shop in 1910. But a century later (after having closed as the local area’s town hall in 1993), it was lovingly-restored and transformed into a luxury boutique hotel.
Town Hall Hotel
Somehow managing to strike the perfect balance of being both gorgeously grand and unpretentiously cosy in equal measure, Town Hall Hotel is home to a whopping 97 bespoke bedrooms – 87 of which are uniquely designed suites that come complete with fully fitted kitchens.

So many of the buildings original fittings and fixtures have survived to tell the tale, and from the very moment you step foot inside the magnificent marble lobby, you know that you’ve found yourself somewhere pretty darn special.
Seamlessly blending the historical significance of the building with cutting-edge design details, there really is something gorgeous to gawp at with each and every turn. From the sweeping staircase to the cosy corners, it’s certainly not tricky to see why Town Hall Hotel has had its fair share of on-screen appearances. It boasts a pretty impressive cinematic CV, having featured in the likes of Atonement, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and Snatch – just to name a few.

The rooms are kitted out with everything you could possibly want or need for a stay in the city, filled to the brim with thoughtful design details and home comforts aplenty. With 87 of the 97 rooms boasting a fully-functioning kitchen, you can of course whip yourself something up for dinner. But if, like me, your culinary skills leave something to be desired, fear not. Town Hall Hotel is home to two restaurants, as well. Da Terra is their two-Michelin-star fine-dining spot, whilst Restaurant Elis is a more relaxed eatery.
Throw in the fact that there’s an underground swimming pool and recently refurbished gym and I think it’s fair to say that Town Hall Hotel is an outrageously gorgeous one stop shop for a sensational staycation. And, to be quite honest with you, it took every ounce of my willpower to give back my keycard and check out in the morning. If that’s not a sign of a pretty perfect hotel, I don’t know what is…
Stays at Town Hall Hotel start at £220 per night. You can find out more and plan your visit here.
