If you’ve taken a look around lately, you’ll have noticed that London is officially in Full On Christmas Mode. There are several stunning Christmas trees and dazzling lights displays to enjoy in town, however London’s shopfronts shouldn’t be overlooked. Many department stores and boutiques have really stepped up their decoration game this year for their Christmas shopfronts. So why not celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with a tour of the most festive window displays in town? Have a cheeky photoshoot outside, go window shopping, or simply admire their beauty from afar.
Here are 11 Christmassy shops for you to explore – and we have it on good authority that even the Grinch would approve:
1. Fortnum & Mason
2021 indeed… Fortnum & Mason have opted for their popular advent calendar theme for their Christmas makeover again this year, and we approve. There’s nothing quite like Christmas trees, radiant red lighting and a countdown to the most magical day of the year to get you in the festive spirit!
181 Piccadilly, W1A 1ER. Nearest stations are Piccadilly Circus and Green Park.
Cartier is known to go all out over the holidays and this year is clearly no exception – no wonder then that we had to include this on our list of fabulously festive Christmas shopfronts. Their giant red ribbon has made a comeback this winter and for those that haven’t seen it in person, it envelopes the entire building creating an enviable Christmas present! And instead of last year’s illuminated panther, the building is decorated with gold ornaments. Very elegant, and we expected nothing less from Cartier.
175-177 New Bond Street, Mayfair, W1S 4RN. Nearest stations are Piccadilly Circus and Green Park.
3. Tiffany and Co.
Forget the diamonds inside, it’s all about Tiffany’s outdoor jewels this year. Instead of the brand’s iconic colours, the shop is decorated with dreamy purple clouds, golden stars, and a giant crescent moon. Twinkle, twinkle, little star… 🌟
25 Old Bond Street, Mayfair, W1S 4QB. Nearest stations are Piccadilly Circus and Green Park.
Peggy Porschen is a sight to behold all year round, but their new look isn’t one to be missed. Think nutcrackers, pink candy canes, frosted pine decor, and an equally impressive Christmas tree that’ll dazzle just about anyone.
116 Ebury Street, Belgravia, SW1W 9QQ. Nearest station is Victoria.
Directly outside of Fenwick on New Bond Street, you’ll find a breathtaking lights display featuring white peacock feathers! While unconventional, these lights are actually a nod to the street’s vibrant past. In the late 1700s, the men who used to wonder the shopping district in flamboyant clothing became known as ‘peacocks’, hence the feathers. It’s true what they say, birds of a feather really do flock together. Read all about it here.
63 New Bond Street, W1S 1RQ. Nearest stations are Piccadilly Circus and Green Park.
6. Neill Strain Floral Couture
This Belgravia boutique is decorated to the nines! Their wonderful wreaths, festive ornaments and floral arrangements are nothing short of spectacular.
11 West Halkin Street, SW1X 8JL. Nearest station is Knightsbridge.
The Ivy Chelsea Garden has undergone a spectacular transformation and it will definitely spread Christmas cheer to anyone in sight. The restaurant is bringing the spirit of How The Grinch Stole Christmas to the King’s Road with its wintery installation. The ‘Miracle on Mount Crumpit’ makeover is complete with sparkling baubles, a Christmas tree, Whoville-style houses, and of course, the Grinch climbing down Mount Crumpit. You can read all about it here.
195-197 King’s Road, Chelsea, SW3 5EQ
Liberty has gone for an unconventional display this year, but wait till you hear why. As an ode to the Royal Mail, their Christmas theme this year is ‘Chosen With Love, Stamped With Magic’, and encourages shoppers to send a thoughtful message to a loved one as a means to reconnect. A lovely idea for a Christmas shopfront we like to think!
Great Marlborough Street, W1B 5AH. Nearest station is Oxford Circus.
9. Jo Loves
This fragrance store pulled out all the stops for their Christmas shopfronts in Xmas 2021. Their twinkling red display will likely stop all passersby in their tracks as it is simply stunning and perfect for the old ‘gram.
42 Elizabeth Street, SW1W 9NZ. Nearest station is Victoria.
If you want to kiss that special someone this winter, Covent Garden’s Apple Market is the place to go and definitely needed to feature on this list of Christmas shopfronts. You’ll find giant silver baubles and mistletoe hanging from above, and fairy lights and silver ornaments perfectly positioned below. Read all about their lovely Christmas lights display here.
14 James Street, Covent Garden, WC2E 8BU. Nearest station is Covent Garden.
11. Harvey Nichols
And last but certainly not least, is Harvey Nichols with perhaps the most fun design of the bunch. As a ‘celebration of colour and light’, they’re turning the pavement into a neon dancefloor each night, and after the year we’ve had, a spontaneous boogie on the street is exactly what we need!
109-125 Knightsbridge, SW1X 7RJ. Nearest station is Knightsbridge.
