Being a surfer in London can be quite the challenge, with those overtly long ventures to the beach, idyllically lusting over anyone who lives closer to some of the best surfing beaches in the UK. However, The Wave is about to change everything; with the exciting inland surfing destination opening up its first-ever capital city location here in London.
Already making waves in Bristol, The Wave is an oasis of well-being, leisure, and health, boasting its very own man-made beach that’s specifically designed for surfing. This incredible technology continuously guarantees the best waves possible, so there’s no need to check that dreaded surf forecast on your only day off.
Their Bristol location was the first inland surfing destination of its kind in the world, continuing their ground-breaking legacy by bringing their inspiring vision to Enfield. This all-new location reflects their unwavering success (pardon the pun), allowing people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to experience the thrill and joy of surfing.
They’ve also taken this opportunity to improve London’s access to green space, correlating the water and waves with a focus on biodiversity and beautiful green spaces. There are plans to create new pedestrian and cycle routes to and from The Wave, giving Londoners easy access to their brand-new surfing and wellness venue.
In Bristol, The Wave transformed the former farmland its built on with new trees, hedgerows and beehives, with hopes to expand this initiative even further at their London location, not only enhancing the local wildlife and biodiversity, but celebrating it through conservation and protection.
As well as surfing, the space will also feature an activity zone, food and drink options, camping/glamping accommodations, yoga areas, and a lakeside park, making it the perfect staycation for surfers in London, active families looking for something a little different, and beyond.
The Wave is all set to be located in Enfield, replacing Lee Valley Golf Course to grant more Londoners access to this green sector of North London. Although there’s no official opening date, check their website for more information and updates as we wait for London’s premier surfing venue to be ready.
