London has a Temper, and here’s why that’s a very good thing.
Right, if anyone’s immediate response to that headline is “not really barbecue weather, is it?”, then you can leave. Seriously, scram! Now that we’ve got rid of the non-believers, let’s get done to details. Covent Garden restaurant Temper has a new BBQ bottomless brunch, a mighty meaty affair that keeps those sizzling vibes going all year round – and we’re already salivating at the thought of it.
Vegans may want to look away, because I’m afraid there’s very little for you here. Meateaters, however, can indulge in a platter overflowing with barbecued meats, from Adobo marinated free-range chicken, to aged rare-breed beef burger, and Old Spot Cumberland sausages. This perfect platter also features a hefty portion of kimchi slaw, burnt corn, and fries, which should transport you back to that glorious summer we just finished – but if not, sides such as burrata, lime & jalapeno, and beef-fat potatoes should top you up nicely.
Of course, any bottomless brunch worth its salt has to offer a suitable beverage, and here’s where Temper really comes into its own. The barbecue brunch offers a tantalising range of bottomless cocktails, ranging from Mojitos to Margaritas, and from Cosmopolitans to Bloody Marys (there’s also wine and beer for those who like to keep things simple).
All in all, it’s a smashing summery spin on the bottomless brunch formula, and at £35 it won’t break the bank either. Truthfully, the one downside is that it’s likely to have us casting envious glances at summer 2020 throughout the long dark winter…
The BBQ Bottomless Brunch runs every Saturday from 12-3:30pm, and you’ll find Temper Covent Garden at 5 Mercer Walk, Mercers Yard, Covent Garden, WC2H 9FA. Find out more here.
