Summer in the Square is Mayfair’s answer to Glasto.
It’s becoming a truth universally acknowledged that any self-respecting London park must host a cracking summer festival. Victoria Park has All Points East. Peckham Rye has Jam on Rye. Brockwell Park has Field Day. Clearly feeling a little left out, Mayfair’s Grosvenor Square has decided that it wants a festival of its own, and their prayers have been answered with Summer in the Square.
Bringing a fabulous and free programme of culture to the leafy surroundings of Grosvenor Square, Summer in the Square will run July 1st-21st. A strong focus on music means the square will be filled with jazz, contemporary, and world music, including performances from the Gypsy Jazz Trio, Kit Mylner Sax, and Masquerade String Quartet.
Smooth sounds filling a tranquil square makes for an ideal summer afternoon, and they aren’t done yet. Storytelling, choir recitals, and theatre – including immersive performances from Immersive Gatsby – are also on the programme, and games, workshops, yoga classes and family entertainment are also on tap. Throw in street food vendors and bevs aplenty, and you’re all set – be there or be square!
