It’s not as if Farzi actually needs to go this hard at this point. Consistently recommended as one of the best Indian restaurants in London, and highly regarded for their cutting-edge food and drink offerings. From Sunday Brunches to die for, to an already incredible cocktails, spirits, and wine menu – they could have easily rested on their laurels and still enjoyed their well-deserved acclaim.
Nah, that’s not enough for Farzi.
Instead they’ve created a series of drinks directly influenced by the stars themselves. Some drinks take inspiration from the way the zodiac signs express themselves in our personalities. The Grapes of Meena is calming, warming, and hearty thanks to the floral combination of aromatised wine and rose. Perfect for the romantic, yet emotionally-grounded, Pisces. Meanwhile the bold, secretive Scorpio is represented in the Scorpion’s Chalice, which blends champagne, oudh, ghee-washed cognac, almond, and popcorn. At first glance it’s impossible to know how it tastes (though it’s sure to be delicious). Just like the impossibility of ever knowing what a Scorpio is up to, or what they’re thinking.
Other drinks take look at how the star signs intersect with Earth to determine their ingredients. The Cancer-representing Cut of Karka, for example, takes inspiration from the Cancer latitude line. With the line cutting across Mexico, it’s clear why the cocktail starts with a base of mezcal and tequila. Meanwhile, the Makara’s Tropic, representing Capricorn, looks to the Capricorn latitude line. Since it crosses over Africa, the cocktail makes use of fresh-sugar-cane-derived Caribbean rum. The heady combination of the rum and nutmeg topped shards of chocolate, will also be sure to allow the typically switched-on Capricorns to unwind and relax.
Coming to Farzi simply to indulge in some star sign cocktails, however, may be an impossible task. Sipping on the drinks, surrounded by the intoxicating aromas of the food on offer at Farzi, anyone would have to indulge in a dish or two or three eight.
