Somerset House

Ice skating season is well and truly under way, and now Somerset House are returning with their famous rink.

When it comes to ice skating, London does a pretty good job of spoiling you. Rinks have been opening all across the capital recently, but for prestige and sheer fanciness, it’s hard to beat Somerset House. On Wednesday (November 15), Skate at Somerset House will make a triumphant return for the winter season. It’s the rink that launched a thousand festive Instagram snaps, and some very fancy extras are only going to add to the experience.

With Fortnum & Mason along for the ride, you can expect the decorations to be deliciously extra. The Christmas Arcade will overflow once more with lights, baubles, and icicles, and that humdinger of a tree will also receive the Fortnum & Mason treatment. They aren’t simply in charge of the decorations though, as you’ll also find them at the Skate Lodge, serving you champagne and chocolate fondue as you watch the skaters go by. *sigh*

Somerset House are also adding a brand new feature for 2017. Skate Lates are evening parties that feature DJ sets from Wild Beasts, You’re a Melody and Supa Dupa Fly, among others. (See the full line-up.) Throw in some spins, twirls, and a sparkly costume or two, and you’ve got yourself a pretty slick figure skating routine!

Skate at Somerset House will be open from November 15th until January 14th, 2018. The rink will operate from 10am until 22:15pm on most days, and sessions will last one hour. Tickets start from £7.50 and can be purchased here, so get your skates on!

Somerset House is on the Strand, WC2R 1LA, and the nearest station is Temple.

However, this has put him dangerously close to Infernos... You'll find him eating all of London's street food, lost in a bookshop, or shouting at his beloved ice hockey team, the Minnesota Wild.
