While many will be taking their Holidays In The Sun in August, those sticking around in London might just be able to see something very out of the ordinary. Sex Pistols will be taking to the stage once again in a bid to save the historic West London venue, Bush Hall.
Paul Cook, Glen Matlock, and Steve Jones will all take to the stage, with Frank Carter stepping in to front the songs, as the band perform their classic record Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols in its entirety.
Sex Pistols will perform two nights at the venue, which set up a crowdfunder earlier this year and stated it was struggling in the post-pandemic world. The shows will take place on August 13-14, and will go on sale on June 5.
Paul Cook, who is the drummer and a founding member of the band, grew up in Shepherd’s Bush near to the venue, and spoke about the pair of shows the bands will play: “We’re doing a benefit for Bush Hall with the famous Frank Carter. We’re going to be playing Pistols numbers cause they need support and they need the money.
“We thought it would be a great way to stop it going under. This is my local venue. I grew up in Shepherd’s Bush and I still live round here. It would be a real shame to see it disappear and we want to keep it going. So everyone get down to the gig!”
Frank Carter is the vocalist of Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes and has formerly fronted Gallows and Pure Love (the latter of which performed their first show at Bush Hall in 2012). He steps in for Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten), who will not be performing these shows.
Money raised from the shows will go towards the improvement of facilities in the venues, as well as adding support for emerging artists in their programming. Bush Hall has stood since 1904, and is an entirely independent venue that has also had lives as a dance hall, soup hall in WWII, a rehearsal space, and a snooker hall.
A reunited Sex Pistols will perform ‘Never Mind The Bollocks…’ in full on August 13-14. Tickets go on sale via LiveNation on June 5.
