In a bid to build a more sustainable shopping ecosystem, Selfridges has launched a brand new ‘circular’ shopping initiative, helping to keep clothing in circulation for much longer.
Launching just yesterday in the London flagship store, ‘Worn Again’ is set to be a whole season of second-hand shopping, with numerous events taking place throughout summer to encourage customers to shop with the environment in mind.
Ideas, collaborations and events will be brought to life as the season goes on, which will boast second-hand edits curated by Selfridges, swap shops, a charity car boot sale and even rent-to-buy services – where customers can opt to purchase former rental items after renting it themselves.

In addition to the fun events and pop-ups that customers can enjoy over the coming months, Worn Again also promises to ‘dial up’ the desirability of second-hand products, which will not only include clothing and accessories, but furniture, too.
Vinterior brings its first-ever IRL shopping experience to the store for the duration of the initiative, with tons of one-of-a-kind pieces, mid-century styles and iconic pieces such as the mushroom lamp and trendy Togo sofas available to shop.

The sustainable initiative kicked off this week with ‘The Edit’ – a space packed full of incredible second-hand pieces chosen by Selfridges buyers, an upcycling workshop with Marine Serre, a Vinterior furniture pop-up, and a concept store focused on circular craft by Coach, with tons more events and pop-ups to be announced throughout the coming months.
Elsewhere at Selfridges, customers can now enjoy the new ‘Rent to Buy’ scheme – where you can decide to purchase the rental items available at the store, or the new permanent subscription scheme ‘Reselfridges’ – where members receive a different rental designer bag of their choice each month to enjoy for a limited time.
The initiative hopes to support Selfridges’ ambition to work towards 45% of their transactions coming from circular products and services by 2030, through various services including their repair and recycle schemes, rental services and resale.
Here’s what to expect from Worn Again this summer in full:
- Vinterior Marketplace; Vinterior’s first physical marketplace housed in Selfridge’s flagship store. Expect classic mid-century furniture on offer, ‘must have’ pieces such as the mushroom lamp and Togo sofas, and one-of-a-kind vintage pieces from throughout the decades. April-August.
- Selfridges Corner Shop with Marine Serre; Starting with a vintage upcycling workshop April 21-23rd, where guests can transform a vintage piece into a custom t-shirt. Between April 29-30th, the first Marine Serre sneaker will launch, and shoppers will be able to use the soles to print their own custom t-shirts. May 6-7th, the Corner Shop will invite customers to bring their own clothes to be printed on with Marine Serre’s iconic moon logo. The Corner Shop will also house Marine Serre’s ‘atelier’, where customers can shop SS23 pieces made-to-order. April-May 14th.
- The Edit; From April-August, The Edit will bring hand-picked second-hand pieces for customers to shop – including both fashion and lifestyle pieces. April-August.
- Rent-to-Buy; Selfridges Rental has launched a ‘buy now’ scheme, where rental customers can choose to purchase the items they have borrowed. The rental cost will be deducted from the price.
- Reselfridges rental subscription; Selfridge’s has launched a new rental subscription focused on bags, where members can enjoy a different designer bag of their choice each month as part of the rental scheme.
- Coachtopia; Popular leather goods brand Coach has launched a brand new sub-brand called Coachtopia, which champions circular craft. The products are designed using waste materials, meaning the old leather is given a new lease of life as part of a new design. The pop-up shop will boast 18 Coach Ergo styles that are exclusively available to shop at Selfridges UK and make with at least 48% recycled or repurposed materials. April-May 21st.
- Women for Women car boot sale; Alex Eagle will host a charity car boot sale in the Selfridges car park, where car boots will be filled with past-season and second-hand designer fashion donated by brands, designers and fashion insiders. All money raised will go to Women for Women International, helping women in countries affected by war and conflict. May 20th.
- The Stock Market; Hosted in the Corner Shop, the Stock Market will help customers get the most out of their older pieces, with valuation services, opportunities to exchange items and a repair shop on offer. The Stock Market will help enhance the value of older products by fixing up, upcycling and making features out of any damaged spots so they can be worn and loved for longer. May 15th-June 4th.
- More events to be announced soon.
