Another London institution shuts up shop, as Selfridges announces plans to close tomorrow (March 18th).
There’s been a wave of venue closures in London over the past 24 hours – which you can see here, FYI – and another has just been announced. Due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, Selfridges have taken the decision to close their four department stores across the UK, as of 7pm tomorrow evening. It joins the likes of the Natural History Museum, the Royal Opera House, and the whole West End in shutting down for the foreseeable future.
To our friends and family,
An important announcement, made with love from Selfridges 💛 pic.twitter.com/OJJeUjRLX4— Selfridges (@Selfridges) March 17, 2020
Stores across London, Manchester, and Birmingham will be shuttered, although online shopping won’t be affected. Due to the uncertainty of how long the outbreak will last, Selfridges haven’t given a date for reopening, so you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled for that.
Yes, the shopping is nice, but arguably the greatest loss here is the store’s excellent food hall. Guess it’s one more thing to eagerly await the reopening of, then…
