Afternoon teas come in all shapes and sizes in London, but you’re unlikely to find one this… fishy. And no, this isn’t the start of some scone-stealing crime thriller tale; but a mere urge towards trying out this Seafood Afternoon Tea.
Granted, London doesn’t exactly sit right by the ocean, but Seabird do a damn fine job of making it feel like the capital city seem like it could do through this unique dining experience. Besides – replacing the seaside restaurant location with a panoramic rooftop view over the city seems like a more than fair trade-off to me.
The Seafood Afternoon Tea at Seabird
Seafood Afternoon Tea (or the Afternoon Sea as they have so cleverly named it) can be found on Seabird’s all-day menu, and consists of a combination of three different options on the menu: the Cousteau, the Calypso, and the Simone. As our videographer Jess pointed out on her visit to try the thing, the tower that is brought to you is, quite frankly, ridiculous.
Taking up the bottom layer is the Simone – an array of oyster which, given the fact that Seabird has the longest list of Oysters in London, means that you have quite the selection here. The Cousteau is a mixed affair, serving up a layer of lobster, dressed crabs, scallops and more; where the Calypso more than matches that layer with a healthy amount of red prawns, langoustines and sea trout cerviche. Basically, it has all the seafood you could ever want in three layers of sheer beauty.
Need to sea something else on the menu? There’s a tapas section with beautiful bites like an octopus roll and even an oyster happy hour. Cheers, me hearties.
Now at £220, this one ain’t the cheapest – but if you’re up for shelling out on an occasion, there’s not many times in your life you’ll see this many shrimps lined up in one stack, so gather up the shipmates and get a taste of the ocean in a picturesque setting.
