Movie magic unfolds beneath the stars at Rooftop Cinema Waterloo, and tickets are already on sale.
Watching films on a laptop during the lockdown just isn’t doing them justice, is it? Luckily, the reopening of rooftops and cinemas on July 4 provides smashing opportunities for movie magic, and we reckon this is one of the best of them. Rooftop Cinema Waterloo will do exactly what the name implies: screen cult and classic films on a rooftop in Waterloo, with the skyline of London unfolding before you. Oh, and there’s the small matter of bottomless drinks on offer, which should make this cinemagoing experience a particularly merry one… Get your tickets here!
Kicking off on July 10, Rooftop Cinema Waterloo will be screening a slate of proverbial powerhouses, including recent hits like La La Land and Black Panther, eminently quotable fare such as The Devil Wears Prada and Beetlejuice, and the crowd-pleasing likes of Dirty Dancing, Back to the Future, Mamma Mia, and Grease. The screenings will be happening throughout the summer, so there are plenty of opportunities to survey the city from the rooftops before settling into your seat for a blockbuster.
The all-important business of bottomless drinks takes the form of limitless beer or prosecco, with which you can raise a toast to Baby and Johnny perfecting that lift, or salute Sandy and Danny driving off into the sunset. Each ticket also includes a classic cinema snack to nibble on during the film, although you’ll face a tough choice between nachos, popcorn, or pic’n’mix. The rooftop cinema will also be following the two-metre social distancing rule until further notice, making hand sanitiser available for all, and wiping down tables after every seating – so you can focus on the crucial business of enjoying your favourite films beneath the setting sun!
