This ain’t your daddy’s summer fair – unless we’re talking drag families, that is. Raze Collective and NAKEDpresents are teaming up for a day of canal-side queer gorgeousness: the Queer Summer Fayre. They’re shaking up your expectations of a British Summer Fair, and adding a queer twist to that quintessentially British tradition. It’ll be a day of performance, art, workshops, and more, by the queers, and for the queers and all allies.
The event will take place at Hackney Bridge, a new Hackney Wick destination that supports creatives and the local community. There, right by the canal, Queer Summer Fayre will celebrate all things queer, where nothing will be normal or traditional. Workshops will be on offer for people to make your own zine with FEMZINE, to learn Latin & ballroom dancing with Queerly Come Dancing, or to make LGBTQ+ activism focused collages.
There will also be the Queer Makers Market, a Crafternooning corner, and an afternoon and evening cabaret performance from the Not So Royal Variety! from NAKEDpresents. The shows will feature some of queer London’s brightest performers and artists, such as P.M.B.C, Lucinda B Hind, Amazi, WET MESS, Beau Jangles, and more.
Catch us making zines about, what else, secrets (it’s kind of our thing…), before taking in the evening cabaret show, and then dancing through the night at the after-party. The Queer Summer Fayre is sure to be one of the most joyful and gorgeous events happening this Pride Month.
Since Queer Summer Fayre is a not-for-profit event, tickets for the workshops and the cabarets are free, or pay-what-you-can. So you’ve really got no excuses to not come and celebrate all things queer. But be sure to nab those tickets and be guaranteed a spot.
The Queer Summer Fayre will take place on June 18, from midday until late. Find out more at the event website.
