Soldier with hidden identity embarks on a quest to protect the honour of their family, stumbles across a leather-and-lace cabaret and things get at tad…complicated. The neon-drenched world of Moulin Rouge and battle-worn adventures of Mulan collide at this sensational Mulan Rouge Cabaret Dinner. Who said you can’t have a little fun on your way to defeat The Huns?
From the beautiful mind of ShayShay, these iconic stories have been intertwined to deliver immersive nights, full of comedy, cabaret and cocktails. You’ll be sure to fall under its spell, as fabulous drag performers and burlesque dancers put on a spectacular show to remember. Make sure you pick a good seat, as they will be interacting with the audience; pulling you into the whirlwind of delicious scandal and popping the bubble of gender-binary. The rest is for you to find out upon arrival, as the specifics of this soiree are as mysterious as the dark side of the moon.
Speaking of delicious, the Mulan Rouge cabaret dinner does not pull any punches when it comes to cuisine. A feast fit for queens and kings will be laid out before you, four whole courses of delectable dishes. This includes baked camembert (or warm cauliflower dip for the vegans) with ginger chilli sauce and a crispy baguette, slow braised lamb shoulder or sticky butternut squash for the main and the La Tarte Can Can (charred pineapple on crispy kadaidi pastry with miso salted caramel and Chantilly cream).
All of this will unfold under the domed ceilings of The Vaults, a labyrinth of disused railway arches (transformed into a haven for theatre and arts) under London’s Waterloo Station. After a wander through graffiti-covered tunnels you’ll soon spot the glow of Moulin-Rouge-red emitting from the stage. Then, it will be time to take a seat and wait for the show to begin.
It is encouraged to dress for the occasion. This is the cabaret after all, where glitz and glamour are the name of the game. Or, if you’re looking to unleash your inner warrior, make sure to polish your armour. Please keep in mind that culturally offensive garments will not be permitted.
The night has multiple dates, each one as wonderfully raunchy as the next. So prepare to don your top hats, grab your sword and get your tickets here.
