We all need a bit of escapism sometimes, and when you can hold a drink while nostalgically killing it on some of your favourite childhood games, you’re definitely onto a winner.
That’s the formula NQ64 – which first arrived at Manchester’s Northern Quarter in 2019 – has sworn by to great success, now poised to open their eighth site in the UK tomorrow (May 27).
And, this time, London are getting in on the retro arcade action, with their brand new site coming to Soho’s Berwick Street. If you fancy rocking out to Guitar Hero, chomping away at Pac-Man or boasting the high score on another title in their collection, then it’s good news: you can do all of the above with a cocktail in your hand.
NQ64’s inaugural London spot is opening at the former site of Ballie Ballerson bar, and will boast over 30 original arcade and console games for guests to have a crack at. Tokens for the arcade machines can be purchased at the bar, and console games are completely free! All your games are soundtracked by a DJ on most nights, who will deliver more nostalgia in the form of classic Hip Hop tunes.
Plus, the fun and games doesn’t stop there. At NQ64 you’ll find a multitude of cocktails inspired by characters in titles that you’ll be playing as at the bar. Look out for Kirby, Donkey Kolada and the Aku Aku Fruit Punch, which is based on Crash Bandicoot. There’s also plenty of craft beers, wines and spirits if cocktails aren’t your tipple of choice.
NQ64 co-founder, Matthew Robson, said: “We are so excited to be bringing NQ64 to London as this has been a huge ambition of ours for some years.
“We think NQ64 will bring a whole new dimension to the entertainment landscape of the capital by transporting visitors back in time, all while being the latest hotspot for those who just want to have a drink up and good night out in the town. We can’t wait to officially open our doors next month.”
After successfully launching in Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Liverpool, NQ64 has finally arrived at 53 Berwick Street, W1F 8SP. Check out their website here.
