London and literature have a special bond, so you’d expect many bookish heads to turn up to a brand-new literary festival. The North London Book Fest arrives at the Grade II-listed Alexandra Palace next month (March 21-24), marking the first event of this kind at the historic venue.
Providing a space for readers in the capital to connect with some of their favourite authors as well as writers they may not have previously known. And what is better than discovering a new favourite book? Nothing really, so we’d advise getting down a festival dedicated to them.
What can I expect to see at the North London Book Fest?
Of course, it’s a hub for book lovers and champions of the written word. Across four days, Londoners will be able to flock into one space to attend (-deep breath-) talks by authors, readings, panel discussions, Q&As, signings, and workshops in a space for all ages.
Among the headliners is Lemony Snicket, who penned the A Series of Unfortunate Events books and gave many young children their first true antagonist over a prolonged set of books in Count Olaf. He’ll take to the stage with Jack Meggit-Phillips to discuss his new book, Poison For Breakfast.
Elsewhere across the weekend, you can pitch puzzles to quiz book extraordinaire Frank Paul; delve into the latest in True Crime and Political Thrillers with Victoria Dowd (author of the Smart Woman’s Mystery series); listen to the Sunday Times bestseller Erin Kelly in conversation with Hannah Fallon, fellow bestseller and author of Queen Bee.
Other highlights include Natalie Haynes, Leo Vardiashvili, Peter Hain, Michael Rosen, Stuart Turton, Cecile Pin, plus many more across four days at the literary bonanza at Ally Pally.
