Calling London’s many pastry fiends and sweet-treat-devourers – a new bakery has just opened up shop in London, and you definitely don’t want to miss it. Moi et Toi has just landed in Notting Hill with an array of experimental bakes and delicious flavour combos.
Taking over the site at the Indian restaurant Empire Empire each morning, Moi et Toi is blending traditional French patisserie with British flavours. But we’ve yet to encounter pastries quite like these. On the sweet side of things, they’re serving up everything from peanut butter pain au chocolat to Earl Grey custard tarts, coconut and stewed pineapple buns, and more. And for the savoury pastry fans, they’ve got the likes of Croque Monsieur croissants and pastries filled with cacio e pepe or Camembert.
And of course, you’ll need something to wash it all down! After all, no bakery is complete without some delicious coffee. They’ll have Monmouth coffee on hand, as well as delicious house-made chai. Honestly, does it get better than a hot cup of chai in one hand and a roasted peach and cardamom custard bun in the other?
The duo behind Moi et Toi
The new bakery is the result of a collaboration between Harneet Baweja, the founder of Gunpowder Group and Empire Empire, and chef and restaurateur Edward Delling Williams, founder of Le Grand Bain in Paris. And the collaboration itself represents the long-time friendship between the two, who met in the early 2000s. Moi et Toi – or ‘me and you’ – is a duo of friends, a duo of restaurants, and a duo of culinary influences.
Said Harneet:
“Edward and I have been searching for the ideal opportunity to collaborate, and I’m thrilled that we’ve finally found it with Moi et Toi. The bakery will draw upon Edward’s extensive experience in Paris, and we’re both excited to bring something truly unique to Notting Hill.”
