It’s glorious, isn’t it? When the shutters fall away and the heat comes into the city after a long, cold winter. It happened last weekend, when London was hotter than LA, and this weekend is heating up again.
It’s going to be 20°C in the capital C today (April 12), which is unusually hot for the time of year and an early sign of what’s to come this summer in the city. A mini-heatwave is what they’re calling, and it’s hard to disagree when we’ve got a few days coming with temperatures north of that 20-degree mark.
Lightning will (just figuratively, don’t worry) strike twice as Saturday also looks to be a toasty one according to BBC Weather, so be sure to crank out the summer tunes on your portable JBL speaker and head down to the park. At least it falls on the weekend, right?
As we know, however, the weather is not going to play constancy tactics, as from Sunday (April 14), the mercury is plunging straight down to 15°C with rain to follow the very next day, so it isn’t all easy sailing in this month.
To soften that blow of the warm weather leaving us, there is also the prospect of the first 8pm sunset of 2024 on April 17. While the forecast for that day might currently sit at a measly 13°C, we can rest assured that in a couple of months we will be ‘so back’ and enjoying a mix of late sunsets at temperatures even higher than what’s on the horizon this weekend.
For now, we’ll just take what we can get and bask in the glow this weekend before getting a solid two hours of sunlight after departing the office in the evening.
