A few months ago we told you about Seabird’s stunning seafood take on afternoon tea. And now, another vaunted London institution is getting in on the action with its own Afternoon Sea menu for Afternoon Tea Week.
The acclaimed Mayfair Chippy – which we assure you is much more than any ordinary chippy – has flipped the classic dining experience completely on its head. Gone are the tiny finger sandwiches and scones. And there’s nary a pastry or cake to be seen. But they’ve kept the champers – obviously!
Launching to celebrate Afternoon Tea Week (August 12-18), Mayfair Chippy’s Afternoon Sea experience will treat diners to some of the freshest seafood in London. Take a seat and you’ll find yourself face to face with a veritable tower of seafood. Dishes include the likes of Cornish crab on toast, Severn & Wye smoked salmon, Atlantic crab claws, King prawns, Maldon rock oysters, and much more.
Unlike many of London’s other afternoon tea offerings, Mayfair Chippy’s Afternoon Sea is available all week long. So you don’t have to wait until Sunday to enjoy it. You could throw all the rules out the window and enjoy the afternoon tea experience on a Tuesday of all days! Any day is a great day for a tower of seafood, after all…
Mayfair Chippy’s Afternoon Sea is priced at £38 per person. Champagne costs extra. The special menu must be pre-booked at least 24 hours in advance, with a minimum of two people required. Don’t be shell-fish, after all – take a mate!
So next time you fancy an afternoon tea – why not head for the chippy?
