Ever wanted to visit our friends up North in Manchester and been put off by either the immense cost or the loooong journey time? Well, the National Express is here to help. As well as saving our arses every time we need to travel to and from a London airport, the coach service will now also take us between London and Manchester with a new journey that’s both faster and cheaper!
National Express’ 540 route from London to Manchester is already an affordable (if slightly long) alternative to rail travel’s often exorbitant prices. But the coach service recently announced that they’ve made the route even more efficient, and cut a whopping half an hour off the journey time.
Fares start at just £15.90 – which is less than half the cost of a train ticket – making travelling with the service a no-brainer! (And if you don’t mind riding a bit longer for even more savings, you can even find journeys from London to Manchester for as little as £8.90!)
More improvements for the holidays
Ahead of the summer holidays (and plenty of travelling) the National Express is also making improvements to and amending other services this month. These changes include:
- 131: increased daily services between Birmingham and Yorkshire – with new early morning journeys from Birmingham and early evening journeys from Yorkshire. Starting May 17.
- 460: revised daily services between Rugby, Coventry, Heathrow Airport and London – with more journeys to and from Heathrow Airport, while also reintroducing Leamington Spa and Banbury to the network. Starting May 24.
- 465: revised daily overnight service between Yorkshire, East Midlands and London – also introducing Loughborough. Starting May 31.
National Express isn’t just fixing up its routes, it’s also continuing to invest in its fleet. 150 brand new vehicles are expected to hit the roads this year, providing customers with a comfortable and relaxing journey to hundreds of destinations across the country. And with leather reclining seats, free Wi-Fi, USB power sockets, and a generous baggage allowance, these coaches sure put the bus journeys of yore to shame.
Tickets are available to purchase from the National Express website here.
