London Has Been Revealed As The World’s Prettiest City To Visit This Summer

The summer holidays are finally here and if you listen carefully enough; you just might hear the collective sigh of relief coming from teachers across the country. That’s right: it’s that time of year when all of the saved-up annual leave gets put to good use and social media becomes jam-packed with “I’ve had worse Mondays” and “Life’s a beach” captions.

I know what you’re all thinking though: “where is the prettiest location for me to get my next oh-so-candid holiday pic?”. Well, it just so happens that the lovely lot over at Travelbag have done the hard work for us. The travel service provider stepped up to the plate and analysed Instagram and TikTok hashtag data for 100 cities to reveal which of them will provide the most picture-perfect backdrop for your summer getaway, and it turns out: the prettiest city to visit this summer is a lot closer than you might have expected.

Drum roll please… okay, I guess the title of this article (and the photo directly above) was a bit of a spoiler alert, but the study has revealed that London is in fact the prettiest city to visit this summer, and here at Secret London HQ, we’re feeling just a little bit smug about it.

Now I know it’s difficult to imagine at this particular moment whilst looking out of our windows onto a grey, drizzly London, but let’s cast our minds back to those warm summer days (of which we experienced about two earlier on in the year, remember?).

The hashtag #SummerInLondon has been used over 160,000 times on Instagram and the same tag as almost 2 million views on TikTok, making it the number one destination to get your social media content this summer. Paris closely follows London, with Berlin coming in third place. London and New York were also the most viewed cities on TikTok.

London is bursting at the seams with beautiful backdrops and so we simply must take this opportunity to have a little brag about it. Whether it’s the glorious green spaces (which, by the way, make up 47% of the city), the iconic landmarks, the rich culture, or the beautiful buildings; our capital city certainly isn’t short of picture-perfect scenery for your summer snaps.

Let’s not forget the plethora of sun-drenched beer gardens, rooftop bars and riverside spots just waiting to be enjoyed (and photographed, and posted on your social media, obviously).

You know what? The more I think about it; it’s no surprise that our lovely London has taken the top spot here.
