Travel-loving Londoners, listen up. If you happen to be wondering where in the world you might find the busiest airports of all (because why wouldn’t you be?), you’ve come to the right place. Because an annual list of the most hustly bustly aviation hubs on the planet has just been revealed, and an airport in London has found itself among the top ten.
The annual information comes courtesy of Airport Council International, who dug through the data and crunched the numbers like a bag of peanuts on the plane to uncover the busiest airports on the planet. London Heathrow was the only airport in the UK (and one of just two airports in Europe) to have earnt itself a spot on the list, having had a record-breaking year in 2025.

A whopping 84.5 million passengers passed through Heathrow’s gates last year, averaging around 231,000 travelers a day. Despite it being the travel hub’s busiest year ever, Heathrow actually fell a few places on the list compared the previous year. Heathrow Airport landed at number 7 on this year’s list (it took the fifth place position the previous year) but the west London locale remains to be the world’s most connected airport. In 2025, Heathrow offered flights to a staggering 226 destinations across 80 different countries. Not bad, hey?
