A firm favourite on London’s breakfast scene has just earned itself a healthy dollop of worldwide acclaim, after nabbing a spot on TasteAtlas’ list of the 100 most legendary restaurants in the world. E Pellicci is the beloved Bethnal Green cafe that’s been dishing up delicious grub to hungry Londoners for over 100 years, having remained in the same Italian family since opening its doors in 1900.
Serving up a menu packed full of Italian classics and English breakfast dishes whilst oozing classic east London charm; E Pellicci was named number 83 on Taste Atlas’ list of iconic restaurants. And it was the only restaurant in the UK to feature on the entire list, so we’re feeling pretty darn proud.

The family-run eatery was opened by Priamo Pellicci back in 1900 when he moved to London from Florence. Following his death, Priamo’s wife, Elide, successfully kept the café up and running (whist single-handedly raising seven children, might I add) – and rather deservingly, the E in E Pellicci was put there in her honour. The cafe has now been granted Grade II listed status thanks to its ornate wooden paneling, which was carved by a regular customer and carpenter back in 1946.
Everything you eat at Pellicci’s is sure to be delicious, but they really egg-cel in the English brekkie department. Famed for its legendary fry-ups, they take the most important meal of the day very seriously here. The ‘Have The Lot’ is our personal favourite because – as the name might suggest – it includes a generous helping of literally everything. But you can also stuff your face with everything from pasta and pies to sandwiches and salad, and even some dreamy desserts, too. It’s no wonder that it’s become a favourite amongst celebs too, with plenty of pictures adorning the walls to prove it.
