Calling all dinophiles, budding palaeontologists, and lovers of the natural world – a stunning new immersive show is coming to London that you won’t want to miss. ‘Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs’ will bring the majesty of the natural world to a mighty four-storey-tall viewing experience, tracing the impact of the dinosaurs on the world around us over the past 66 million years.
The show, which will land at Lightroom next summer, will drop viewers into a 360° experience showing worlds populated by all manner of dinosaurs. Guests can marvel at Ammonites and Mosasaurs, as well as Adaltheriums and the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex. Along the way, you’ll be taken around the natural world to “dangerous deserts, soaring skies and the deep sea.”
Combining “captivating storytelling, breathtaking visuals and groundbreaking technology”, the show will take guests back in time on a thrilling adventure. Drawing from Apple TV+’s Emmy Award-nominated series ‘Prehistoric Planet’, it will even feature “never seen before material”. They’re also using the music from the series to soundtrack the show. That means the stunning visuals are accompanied by an original score by multiple Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer, Anže Rozman, and Kara Talve for Bleeding Fingers Music.
Said Mike Gunton, Executive Producer of Prehistoric Planet and BBC History Unit Creative Director:
“I always imagined Prehistoric Planet as like stepping into a time machine and travelling back to the time when dinosaurs ruled Planet Earth. The Lightroom experience will be just that! There’s nowhere else where you can be surrounded by the most amazing animals to have ever lived – see them all life-size, and really close-up, watch their dramatic lives unfold and understand what life was like 66 Million years ago. For a wildlife film-maker it’s a dream come true!”
The new Lightroom show comes in the wake of the venue’s other hugely popular presentation. Previous pieces have included surveys of David Hockney’s artwork, and explorations into space – narrated by Tom Hanks. The newest show at Lightroom is ‘Vogue: Inventing the Runway’, which takes viewers behind the scenes of the fashion runway.
