If you spend any time drinking wine in London, or just wandering around a supermarket in general, you’re likely familiar with La Vieille Ferme. The ultra-popular wine has been nicknamed the ‘Chicken Wine’ by its adoring drinkers, and is arguably one of the most talked-about wines in the country. And now, the ‘Chicken Wine’ is joining forces with none other than KFC (y’know, the fried chicken folks from Kentucky-way) on Coq au Vin – a pop-up chicken and wine bar.
Landing in London over the August bank holiday weekend, Coq au Vin will serve up (wine) buckets of fried chicken, alongside plenty of glasses of La Vieille Ferme’s French wine varieties. It’s a pairing that makes perfect sense, even once you look past the poultry connection.
Coq au Vin will take over Shoreditch’s Kachette Annex for just 4 days, running from August 28-31. The event will see them pairing KFC dishes with specific wines. We’re talking chicken tenders with crisp rosé, hot wings with a juicy red, and more. Oh, and La Vieille Ferme is also bringing back their limited-edition ‘Chicken Wine’ label exclusively for the event.
‘Chicken Wine’ and KFC
KFC is bringing the buckets, and La Vieille Ferme is bringing the bottles, as they join forces this August. At their Coq au Vin pop-up, guests will be able to enjoy a 90-minute session of chicken and wine. They’ll enjoy “La Vieille Ferme’s most-loved selection, alongside finger-lickin good KFC, in a menu that’s here to challenge everything you thought you knew about wine pairings.”
Tickets are £15 per person and entitle guests to the full experience. So you can chow down and sip your way through the following menu:
- Popcorn Chicken & La Vieille Ferme Sparkling Rosé
- Hot Wings & La Vieille Ferme Rouge
- Original Recipe Tenders & La Vieille Ferme Rosé or La Vieille Ferme Blanc
And of course you’ll need some dips, so they’ll also have Original Sauce, Supercharger, and Texas BBQ sauces on hand. (But… what if you dip the chicken in the wine…? Someone has to try it, right?)
