Every year in October, London hosts an exciting NFL clash with US teams touching down in London to play ball in one of the capital’s stadiums. This time around, the Big Smoke is welcoming the Minnesota Vikings to take on the New York Jets this Sunday (October 6) at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
And if you’re a far too excited and impatient fan of the Vikings, you can head over to their immersive fan experience at Outernet the day before an for an interactive day of free activities lasting between 10am – 11:30pm.
The fans (both old and new) will be at the centre of the experience to take part in the SKOL chants (the Viking’s fight song, which you also might recognise from it being made famous at Euro 2016 by the Iceland football team). You’ll be greeted by hosts in Viking costumes and see the stars of the team all around on the giant screens we’ve come to know over at the Outernet building. There will be live performances from Minnesota Vikings cheerleaders as well as checking out the Fanatics Locker Room Store to shop for exclusive London shop products and spruce up their New Era caps with NFL patches.
You’ll also meet the legendary wide receiver Cris Carer, who leads the franchise as the all-time leading receiver in yards and touchdowns, who will be on hand next to Jake Reed, another wide receiver with revered status.
This weekend marks the fourth time the Minnesota Vikings have played in the city, having previously battled it out at Wembley in 2013, Twickenham in 2017, and another time out at the Spurs stadium two years back.
The Viking’s immersive pop-up at Outernet will be a great way to build the excitement before ambling over to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium the next day.Now it’s a shame the North London club is Harry Kane-less these days, given his public love for the US variant of footy…
