For all the thespian curtain twitchers, here’s a quick round-up of our favourite plays and musicals at the moment:
1) Everyman
[National Theatre Live]Carol-Ann Duffy’s intriguing take on the 15th-century morality play stars Chiwetel Ejiofor (of 12 Years A Slave fame). Not to be missed.
2) Jersey Boys
[London Town]Who doesn’t love Jersey Boys? The musical story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, Jersey Boys has crowds everywhere beggin’ for more. Tickets go fast, but we found some here on our favourite events app, Fever.
3) Oppenheimer
[Independent]Dramatising the life story of Robert J Oppenheimer, the infamous father of the atomic bomb, Oppenheimer has exploded onto the scene at The Vaudeville Theatre after success in Stratford.
4) Merchant of Venice
[The Guardian]Shakespeare’s classic tale of the miser launches once again with Jonathan Pryce (Evita, Tomorrow Never Dies, Pirates of the Caribbean) as Shylock. Catch it at The Globe until the 7th June.
Into its record-breaking 6th year, with over 2000 shows to date, MJ fever shows no sign of slowing down. Speaking of which, it’s another one you can easily book with Fever, thanks guys.
Damian Lewis (Homeland) plays one of three small-time criminals plotting a big heist in David Mamet’s engrossing play American Buffalo, at Wyndham’s Theatre.
