When you next step off the Victoria line at Green Park, you may notice the station living up to its name even more than usual. While it usually describes the area of grassland outside Buckingham Palace, eagle-eyed Londoners will see that the roundel now reads “Green Planet” with a green background.
You’ll be pleased to learn that it comes alongside the promotional package for the new show from everyone’s favourite Sunday-night-dulcet-toned-presenter, Sir David Attenborough.
The Green Planet, a new five-part offering that suitably follows the likes of Planet Earth and Blue Planet, first aired on BBC One last Sunday (January 9) and takes a deep look into the life of plants around the world. And, these very plants form the groundwork for Green Park’s new makeover.
BBC Creative has made the station its canvas, turning it into an unrecognisable experience for commuters. Bet you didn’t expect to be trudging through a rainforest in Costa Rica before getting to your office, did you? The Southbound line is kitted out in boards filled with the mysterious plants depicted in the new show, truly living up to its new “Green Planet” moniker.
If you want to set foot in this central London forest, you better hurry! It’s only sticking around until tomorrow (January 13), so be sure you switch at Green Pa-, I mean Green Planet over the next couple of days.
Gabriella Neudecker, Director of Customer and Revenue at TfL, said: “It’s great to be working with the BBC and this spectacular station takeover is a great example of how brands can work creatively with TfL. This fantastic installation shows a different way to use our stations in a creative and engaging way to connect with tens of thousands of people.”
The Green Planet airs on Sundays at 9pm on BBC One. You can also catch the series on BBC iPlayer.
