I know it’s sometimes hard to believe, but London isn’t actually just a chaotic concoction of high-rise buildings, bustling streets, and cramped tube carriages. In fact, a recent wellness study has proved our beloved concrete jungle to be quite the opposite.
That’s right, in a bid to discover the UK’s ultimate wellness hotspots; outdoor aficionados, GO Outdoors, have done some research, crunched some numbers, and revealed the greenest regions in the UK. And – spoiler alert: London didn’t do too badly at all.
The study looked at the highest tree coverage percentage of regions in the UK, and London came in at fourth place (joint fourth, but fourth all the same) with a 19% average tree coverage. Berkshire and Hampshire came in joint first, offering up plenty of access to natural and green spaces, whilst West Sussex (who are the proud of owners of a plethora of popular parks – including part of the South Downs National Park) came in second. Greater London tied with three other regions; Oxfordshire, Surrey and East Sussex.
London is bursting at the seams with beautiful backdrops, gloriously green gardens and picture-perfect parks, so this statistic comes as no surprise to us. But, it’s nice to have it in writing. London was also revealed as the second best wellness location in the whole of the UK. Not bad, hey?

So, there you have it; the greenest regions in the UK. I guess it’s time to dust off the walking boots that have been sitting at the back of my cupboard for years, and start making my way through the list. After all, I’ve heard that getting outside in nature is pretty good for you.
