1994 – what a great year. The Lion King was released in cinemas, Harry Styles was born, people could actually afford to buy houses. They really were the glory days, weren’t they? 1994 was also the year a small Argentine steak restaurant opened up in the basement of a building in London Piccadilly.
Well, fast-forward thirty years, and that very same steak restaurant has now taken over the entire four-storey building (and expanded across the capital), and is celebrating turning the big three-oh with a birthday bash that everybody is invited to. Happy birthday, Gaucho.
To mark this momentous milestone, Gaucho has unveiled an extra-special (and incredibly wallet-friendly) menu that will be available for the entire month of July. Because why have a birth-day when you can have an entire birth-month, hey? The exclusive legacy menu will feature a selection of iconic dishes that have defined Gaucho’s incredible thirty year journey. And the best part? It will only cost £30 for a three-course meal.
Dishes being revisited from Gaucho’s back catalogue include the Ecuadorian Ceviche (which debuted in 2012, when Gaucho became the first restaurant to bring the dish to London), the Lomo a la Milanese ( which Gaucho first served to diners back in 2008), and their OG Dulce de Leche Pancakes – using the exact same recipe that was used at Gaucho’s opening in 1994.
As well as being the oldest Argentine steak restaurant in the country; Gaucho also boasts the UK’s largest selection of Argentinian wine. And so the limited-time menu will also be served up with a heavily discounted bottle of Malbec, costing diners – you guessed it – just £30. The menu will celebrate three decades of delectable dining and deep admiration for the culture, lifestyle and people of Argentina. We’ll certainly drink (and eat) to that.
Martin Williams, Gaucho CEO, says “For three decades, diners have celebrated seminal moments in their careers and personal lives at Gaucho, as we have brought the vibrant flavours and rich culinary traditions of Argentina and Latin America to the UK. As we celebrate this milestone, we are excited to reintroduce some of our most loved dishes, offering our guests a nostalgic flavour of our journey. This anniversary menu is not just a tribute to our past but a celebration of our continued success as the UK’s favourite premium dining restaurant group.”
