If you were watching enviously as people took to the streets of London this weekend for the London Marathon, but baulk at the 26.2-mile undertaking, we’ve found just the alternative for you. And, as a plus, it even throws a few glasses of wine into the mix. Forza Wine is inviting people to join them for the Forza Maratona on June 7 – a wine-fuelled, almost-but-not-quite-marathon “for those who struggle to commit to actual marathons”.
It’s the inaugural wine marathon from the Forza team, offering people a way of raising money “for those who are daunted by actual marathons and still like fun.” The 12km charity run will raise money for Galloway’s Society For The Blind and Hospitality Action.
Forza Maratona, aka the wine marathon
It all kicks off at Forza Peckham, on Sunday, June 7, at 8:30am. The wine marathon will take runners through the streets of London, to the finish line at Forza Soho.
Along the way, the route will stop at Levan, TOAD Bakery, Theo’s, Canton Arms, Forza Wine National Theatre, and Bar Crispin. And at every stop (including the start and finish line), runners will get a glass of wine before heading off. Or collapsing at the end…
So, to recap, that’s 8 stops, 8 wines, and 7.46 8ish miles(aka 12km). The run is open to all (over 18’s only… obviously), regardless of whether you’re a beginner or an expert – at running or drinking.
Each ticket gets runners:
- 8 wine pours
- “A very chic Forza Wine Maratona T-shirt”
- Fritti at the finish line
And to thank you for your efforts, runners will also receive a 50% off booking link for Sunday, June 7, “so you can absolutely demolish a post-run feast like the hero you are.”
It’s a chance to give back and do something for charity – without having to run 42km. Fancy a wine, or 8?
