If you want a chance to run around the city as part of next year’s marathon, this is your opportunity. Sign up, and you could be one of the throngs of people racing along the streets next April. Just be sure to sign up before the ballot closes on May 1, 2026. That’s today, folks!
What is the London Marathon?
As you might have gleaned from its catchy name, the London Marathon is a marathon that traces its way through the city of London. Taking runners on a whistle-stop tour of some of London’s most iconic areas and landmarks, it stretches an impressive 26.2 miles.
The route takes participants from the start in Blackheath, past the Cutty Sark, over Tower Bridge, and through Canary Wharf, before finishing on The Mall in front of Buckingham Palace. How’s that for a royally impressive setting?!
As well as being an impressive physical feat, it’s an enormous event. In fact, it’s “the world’s biggest annual one-day fundraising event.” Next year’s marathon might even stretch to 2 days instead of just 1, to deal with the huge demand for participation.
How to sign up for the 2027 London Marathon
If you want to join the jogging throng, the ballot for the 2027 TCS London Marathon is open until May 1. You have until 4pm on Friday, May 1, 2026, to get your name in the ballot.
Entries will then be drawn completely at random, with results announced in the summer. Those who signed up will receive an email outcome by early July.
With plans in the works for a two-day marathon, your chances of being accepted for next year’s marathon are significantly higher than usual. Ballot entrants will be entered for both the Saturday and Sunday events.
Wannabe marathon runners can sign up, at the TCS London Marathon website.
So, whether it’s your first time signing up, your fifth time participating, or you’re hoping for your name to finally get chosen to join in, be sure not to miss the ballot this year!
