The temperature in London has been a tad temperamental recently, hasn’t it? We’ve gone from hot to cold and t-shirts to winter coats in what seems like a matter of mere moments. But despite the low-key identity crisis that the capital’s weather is currently experiencing, one thing that we can absolutely guarantee is that as of next week – come rain or shine (but hopefully the latter) – the sun will be gracing us with its presence until 7.30pm for the first time this year. Yes, really…
London’s first 7.30pm sunset of the year
On Monday (March 30), due to the clocks having hurtled forward an hour the previous morning, London will be treated to its first 7.30pm sunset of 2026. Whilst today, we’ll be bidding the sun farewell at 6.25pm (still far too early for our liking); in just a matter of days, it’ll be sticking around for over an hour longer. On Sunday, March 29, the sun will set at 7.28. The following evening, however, the sun won’t be setting until 7.30pm on the dot.

The capital waved goodbye to post-7pm sunsets way back in September 2025 – but they’re finally making a grand return alongside the long-awaited British Summer Time. And at the outrageous rate in which the days, weeks, and months are flying by at the moment; it won’t be long before we warmly welcome in the 8pm sunsets (the first of which is only a few weeks away) and – dare I say it – the 9pm sunsets. Summer is officially within touching distance – and I, for one, can’t flipping wait.
