Emerge Festival brings together London’s top museums for a weekend of revelry.
Now if I told you there was a weekend festival which billed itself as “Glastonbury meets Night at the Museum”, you’d want to know all about it, right? Course you would, so here’s all you need to know about Emerge Festival, the rule-breaking series of lates which hit London on September 27th & 28th – plus your tickets, which can be found right here.
Essentially, Emerge Festival is what happens when you give a team of party-loving museum fans the opportunity to run riot at some of the city’s most important attractions – amongst them the Natural History Museum, Barbican Centre, the Horniman Museum and Gardens, and Tower Bridge. The result are some of the most unique cultural events in London, ranging from DJ sets to house parties, and from escape rooms to silent discos.
There’s so much going on that it’s hard to pick out the cream of the crop, but I’ll take a stab at it. Probably the two buzziest sessions are the silent disco that’ll occupy Tower Bridge’s panoramic glass walkway (not for faint-hearted ravers), and the pop-up gin bar that’s setting up shop above Wellington Arch. You can also find a Jimi Hendrix house party at the Handel & Hendrix Museum, an immersive look at scandalous aristocrats inside the ornate Apsley House, a cabaret chocolate quest at Brixton’s Chocolate Museum, and a (mercifully theatrical) Victorian amputation at the Old Operating Theatre Museum.
Phew! That’s not even touching on the various music events taking place throughout the course of Emerge Festival, which sees the likes of Ady Suleiman, Poppy Ajudha, Benin City, Mina Rose and more taking to stages across London. There’s so much to choose from here, and since your Fever ticket gets you entry to the entire festival, you’ll have to pick carefully. One thing’s for sure though: whatever you wind up choosing, you’re going to be amazed and entertained!
