Easter is creeping its way closer and closer on our calendars, and along with plenty of chocolate-eating, bunny hopping and daffodils blooming come the return of the city’s many Easter egg hunts.
One of which is the Little Egg Hunt 2024, brought to you by the Royal Charity Elephant Family and Clarence Court eggs which will be scattered across the borough of Chelsea once again. The Elephant Family charity is back from its hiatus of 10 years and has been dazzling the world with its art installations since 2023 which not only captivate the public’s imagination but also stir hearts and ignite change.
On from March 20 until April 14, the free easter egg hunt and art installation combo will see large-scale egg sculptures that have been creatively imagined and are each designed by some of the world’s most notable artists in design, and architecture including Anya Hindmarch, Philip Colbert, Charlotte Colbert, Dan Baldwin, James McQueen, Bellerby Globe, Natasha Kumar, Lily Lewis, Allegra Hicks, Rebecca Campbell, Rob Ryan and the dynamic duo Rob and Nick Carter.
Whilst the eggs sadly won’t be made of chocolate, they do have an important philanthropic role as at the heart of the Little Egg Hunt is a mission to generate funds for on-the-ground projects, championed by the Royal charity, Elephant Family.
With every egg hunted, they also hope to raise awareness of critical conservation issues, to make art accessible to all and to start conversations about conservation. The charity was founded by HRH The Queen’s late brother, the visionary Mark Shand, Elephant Family stands as a beacon of hope for Asian wildlife conservation.
The Little Egg Hunt serves as a prelude to the grand spectacle of the Big Egg Hunt 2025 which will see 200 eggs gracing some of London’s most iconic landmarks and will be auctioned in order to raise money for the charity’s conservation work. HRH Princess Eugenie also expressed her support, “I’m delighted to support this year’s big egg hunt in support of Elephant Family. A wonderful celebration of art and a reminder about nurturing the incredible animals that share our planet.”
