A major new exhibition celebrating the work of Christian Dior is coming to London.
Opening at the V&A Museum on February 2, ‘Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams’ will feature over 500 objects from the designer’s collection, including sketches, photographs and other personal items. Among them, of course, will be over 200 gorgeous garments to marvel at. [See also: the best art exhibitions in London]
It’s based on an original 2017 exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, but this show will offer 50% more haute coutre to enjoy, including an installation celebrating the designer’s connections with Britain.
Gowns and dresses worn by Princess Margaret, Margot Fonteyn and Nancy Mitford will be among those on display across eleven different collections. It’s the most ambitious exhibition at the V&A since their 2015 blockbuster Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty. [Related: the ultimate guide to London museums]
Accompanying the exhibition will be talks, tours, and workshops presented by the curators, giving you the opportunity to delve even deeper into the creations of this extraordinary designer. Don’t miss out!
