Britain could soon be hit by another “Beast from the East”, resulting in one of the coldest winters in thirty years.
Experts at University College London have studied the current sea temperatures and the weather system over the north Atlantic, and they predict baltic climes for the UK.
It looks like a freezing vortex of Arctic air is on its way, bringing snow and icy temperatures that could last for weeks.
The study was led by Mark Saunders, professor of climate prediction at UCL, who told The Sunday Times: “This would rank 2020 January-February central England as the coldest winter since January-February 2013.”
Strangely, this cold winter will closely follow the UK’s hottest day ever, measured at a record 38.7°C on July 25.
Perhaps now is a good time to tell you that a TV channel dedicated entirely to Christmas films in launching this week (yes, in early September).
