We’re all familiar with the concept of sushi delivered by conveyor belt, but CHŪŌ knew it was time to level up. They’ve got a hefty menu of around 40 Japanese classics, including nigiri, sashimi, gyoza, and a number of izakaya-style dishes, all of which will arrive on model monorail trains.
This Shoreditch restaurant, which arrived in London last summer, offers both counter-style seating and booths for groups, and promises high-quality food for really reasonable prices. Unlike your standard sushi conveyors, where food is typically loaded up for diners to choose from, CHŪŌ’s dishes are made fresh to order and delivered straight from kitchen to table.
As well as their wonderful offering of food which has already received high praise online, CHŪŌ have also been busy making their very own pale ale, lager and IPA to help wash it all down, with the bevvies coming straight from a local brewery. As CHŪŌ mention on their website, the beers and monorail sushi are the perfect way to to begin your night out in the city. You really can’t go wrong with filling up here, whatever’s happens to be coming next in the timetable of stations in your London evening.
While the novelty naturally lies in CHŪŌ’s dine-in experience, it’s also a great value takeaway spot that will fulfil all of your ready-made sushi needs. Though it won’t be delivered to your house on a train, the sushi is still delicious enough to make it that perfect location for a quick takeout lunch in Shoreditch.
Shoreditch may be Europe’s first stop along the journey, but we wouldn’t bet against some more of these beauties popping up across Europe in the not-too-distant future, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for that and don’t miss the arrival.
