So many beloved Christmas traditions have returned to London, but there’s one charming option that takes the cake when it comes to putting the spirit into the most festive season there is! The annual carol singing sessions on Trafalgar Square are back, bringing joy and merriment to locals and visitors alike in the run-up to Christmas.
Taking place every evening from December 9 to Christmas Eve (from 4-9 pm), groups gather beneath the square’s legendary Norwegian spruce to harmonise and bring festive cheer through traditional and modern carols.
These one-hour sessions are intimate, with no amplifiers or staging, allowing the gorgeous voices to resonate and echo beautifully across London’s most iconic square. This cherished event also supports numerous charities, with each choir raising funds for a chosen cause.
Highlights include performances by the West End Musical Choir, Symbol Choir, some local school choirs, and beyond. So, whether you need to head into central for some last-minute gift shopping, or always enjoy a good carol concert, keep Trafalgar Square and their carol sessions in mind this Christmas.
Charities involved in this year’s programming include Noah’s Ark Childrens Hospice, Shelterbox, Crisis, Cancer Research, and more.
Be sure to check the carol schedule and arrive early if you want to snag yourself a good spot. Each performance lasts one hour, with numerous performances taking place from 4-9 pm every day from December 9 to December 24; it’s easy to catch several in once visit while soaking up that festive buzz in central London.
