Whether you’re trying to kill Eve or just see the sights of Barcelona, this place makes for the perfect base.
Can you plan your next holiday solely based on BBC shows? It’s looking that way, as after we brought you news that the charming Italian villa from Normal People was on Airbnb, you’ve now got another TV-famous pad for your next retreat. Villanelle’s enviable Barcelona flat from season three of Killing Eve is currently listed on Airbnb, and it’s the perfect place for a post-lockdown holiday/planning your next hit.
Glamorous international assassin Villanelle has had innumerable swanky residences during Killing Eve’s three season run – remember that delightful Parisian pad? – but the Barcelona flat might be the best one yet. The Art Nouveau flat lies in the neighbourhood of Gracia, a stone’s throw away from Parc Güell, and close to the foothills of Mount Tipidabo. All of which is probably what elicits this reaction:
The gorgeous flat is open-plan, with the entrance hall, kitchen, bathroom, dining room, living room, studio, two bedrooms, and gallery all leading into one another. However, it’s the ornamental touches that take the spacious, light-filled flat to the next level, with pillars, gilded arches, stained glass windows, and aesthetic tiling making the place an architectural gem. At roughly £80 per person per night for a stay (assuming that four of you go), it’s pretty good value for money given the flair on display.
There’s a history to the flat, too: it was built in 1906 to house the de Ramos family, and the old-school charm has been given an update with leather sofas, modern light fittings, and glass shelving. The Airbnb, which can house four guests, is only a part of the historic house, as the host and his family live in the rest of it. You simply can’t beat the interior decor, and you can’t beat the location either, as it’s right outside a Barcelona Metro station, meaning you can be in downtown Barcelona in ten minutes if you catch the trains right. Meanwhile, some of the city’s finest shops, supermarkets, restaurants, and bars are dotted around Plaza Lesseps – which the flat overlooks – so there’s no shortage of things to do around here.
Unsurprisingly, this means the flat is something of a magnet for film and TV productions; aside from the Killing Eve team, the likes of Pedro Almodovar and Wim Wenders have filmed scenes here. But hey, even if you’re not going to be on camera whilst you’re here, I doubt you’ll be turning down the chance for a visit, will you? Check it out and book your stay here.
