In a city bursting at the seams with incredible restaurants, it’s easy to get overwhelmed when choosing where to visit. But luckily you’ve come to the right place, because here at Secret London, we pride ourselves on having some darn good recommendations up our sleeves. Today’s recommendation comes in the form of Amazónico; a restaurant that’s easy on the eye, the tastebuds, and the bank balance. What more could you ask for, hey?
Created by husband-and-wife duo, Sandro Silva and Marta Seco; Amazónico first swung open its doors in Madrid back in 2016, and arrived on London’s culinary scene in 2019. It’s since become somewhat of a global sensation, with branches across the world – and it’s not too difficult to see why.
Inside Amazónico
The restaurant is a celebration of the cultural diversity and gastronomic heritage of the Amazon region, serving up a sensory explosion to its diners. Visitors will be met with an atmosphere as vibrant as its gorgeous interior, a unique culinary experience, and – from September 14 – a brand new weekend menu. But more on that later…
With the luscious foliage that flows throughout the restaurant, the plush green-and-gold colour scheme that has me rethinking my entire flat décor, and the jaw-dropping attention to detail; there’s no denying that this spot if one of the prettiest restaurants in town.
Bringing the taste of Peru, Colombia, and Brazil straight to Mayfair; Amazónico serves up some seriously tasty fare. The menu is a seamless blend of Tropical and Latin American flavours, served up alongside nightly performances from their in-house band.
The new ‘Amazónico Asado’ Menu
Now, onto that shiny new menu I mentioned earlier. Served in a traditional South American family feasting style, the ‘Asado’ menu is full of delicious delights – and guests can order every single one of them for just £65 per person.
The culinary journey will begin with a series of starters and nibbles, including the likes of Brazilian cassava bread and Amazónico’s signature guac. Diners will then be treated to a selection of the restaurant’s most beloved dishes, such as the ‘Aguachile’ (a Mexican-style stone bass ceviche, avocado cream and jalapeño) before enjoying a portion of ‘Maki del Chef’ from the in-house sushi counter, which will change weekly.
Next up will be a carefully-curated and super high quality selection of mixed grilled meats (carved table-side) with plenty of delicious sides and accompaniments. And then of course, the meal will end on a sweet note, with a variety of bitesize desserts. Sounds pretty dreamy, right?
So, round up your family and friends and set off on a unique journey through Latin America that’s sure to be a highlight of your weekend.
The Amazónico Asado menu will be served on Saturdays and Sundays between 12pm and 4pm, from September 14. Find out more about the new menu and book your visit here.
