After half a century as a band, AC/DC will have seen it all – but the most rock ‘n’ roll thing that has ever happened to them has surely been announced today, with the Royal Mail unveiling a new stamp collection celebrating the band.
Marking 50 years since the release of their debut album High Voltage, AC/DC are on a highway to hell my stamp collection as the set of 12 shows off iconic snaps from shows they’ve played over the years, as well as their album covers.

Four of the eight gigs in question are in London, with the events spanning from a 1976 show in the capital to a 2023 show in Indio, California. The remaining four pay tribute to the albums High Voltage (1976), Highway To Hell (1979), Back In Back (1980), and Power Up (2020).
AC/DC are the latest artists to be bestowed with the honour of dedicated Royal Mail stamps, with the other prestigious seven artists being The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Spice Girls, Pink Floyd, The Who, Queen, and Iron Maiden.
Last year, the band returned to London for a pair of shows at Wembley Stadium, and they recently announced more European dates for this summer, including an appearance in Edinburgh.
Speaking on the new stamp collection, David Gold, director of external affairs and policy at Royal Mail, said: “AC/DC is one of the most successful rock bands in the world. Over the past half century, they have recorded some of the best-known rock anthems and have given us ‘Back In Black’ – the biggest-selling rock album of all time. These stamps capture a sample of their electrifying live performances, along with some of their most iconic album covers, and celebrate their significant contribution to the world of rock music.”
The collection of 12 stamps honouring the career of AC/DC and celebrating 50 years will go on general sale on February 18, but you can pre-order them here.
